Application Process

(Applications will be accepted beginning 9:00am, Monday, December 2, 2024)

STEP 1: Fill out the Application Form at the link below,
and pay the application fee.

Application, materials, and payment are due no later than
11:59 pm, Sunday, February 23, 2025.

  • Application Fee: $100. (If paying by credit card, please have card accessible when you begin your application. If paying by check, please make out to the University of Illinois, and send to: SuperState Registration, c/o Illinois Bands, 1103 S. Sixth St., Champaign, IL 61820. Payment must be received by Sunday, February 23, 2025.)

  • NOTE: If you pay by check, please make sure the name of your specific school is indicated on the check!

    Many checks come from the school district administrative office (which can include several schools), so it can be difficult to figure out which school the payment is for.

  • Participation Fee: $500 (for schools selected after the adjudication process)

NOTE: If you wish to register another band after you complete your first application:

  • Click on the "Application Form" link again.

  • Fill out the application again—make sure you indicate a different name for each additional band.

  • All bands from a school must enroll at the classification appropriate for that school (ie: all high school bands from the same school must enroll in the same classification.)


STEP 2: Fill out the Enrollment Verification Form
using the link below.


STEP 3: submit application Recordings

  • High Schools: 12-20 minutes of UNEDITED music (in mp3 music file format) from the 2023-24 school year, which is to be submitted through the Box widget below (you can drag and drop files into the widget).

  • Middle/Junior High Schools: 8-20 minutes of UNEDITED music (in mp3 music file format) from the 2024-25 school year, which is to be submitted through the Box widget below (you can drag and drop files into the widget).

    NOTE #1: PLEASE do NOT include any metadata in your recording files. The adjudicators should NOT see any school-identifying information when playing the recordings. If we find metadata in the files you submit, you will have to resubmit the recordings.

    NOTE #2: PLEASE adhere to the posted time requirements for the recordings. If submitted files exceed the 20 minutes, you will have to resubmit with the appropriate length of recordings. If submitted files are below the minimum duration, additional recordings will be requested. Recordings must be within the correct time requirements.

IMPORTANT! Label each individual recording like this:

CLASS_School_Band-Name_Piece_Composer Last Name
(example:
3A_ACME-High-School_Senior-Band_Lincolnshire-Posy_Grainger)
